Common Questions

Is this a replacement for physical mock exams?

It can be. Arena Live delivers the same assessment quality and percentile data. What it doesn’t replicate is the physical hall experience — 200 children in a school gym. Many parents use Arena Live to supplement 1–2 in-person mocks, doing the rest at home.

How is the percentile calculated?

Every child who sits the same paper in a given week forms a single cohort. Scores are age-standardised (SAS), then ranked. Percentiles update as more children complete. We require a minimum of 30 candidates before showing percentile data.

Can my child cheat?

Technically, yes — just as they could in any unsupervised setting. Arena Live monitors for signals (tab switching, long pauses) and shares them with you transparently. The integrity framework is about building honest self-assessment, not surveillance. The percentile is only useful if it’s real.

Does it match GL Assessment format exactly?

The section structure, timing, and question distribution follow the GL format. Arena uses 4 individually timed sections that auto-advance — your child cannot go back to a previous section, just like the real exam. The questions come from our 30,000+ TrueViQ Foundry question bank.

How often are new papers available?

A fresh paper is released every Monday and stays available until Sunday night. Start any time during the week — no slots, no booking. Everyone who sits the same paper forms one cohort for percentile accuracy.

What about children who are anxious about exams?

Arena Live is gentler than a mock centre. Your child is in their own space, with you nearby. The lobby page explains the rules warmly and gives a clear countdown. For very anxious children, doing their first Arena Live exam at home can be a stepping stone to an in-person mock later.
